Application Engineer - Mechanical

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a mechanical Application Engineer to join the Aftermarket Projects department at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn. We are looking for a driven, solution-oriented mechanical engineer who enjoys both technical challenges and project-based work. 

As Application Engineer you join a multi-skilled technical department that handles everything from system adaption and interface issues through to detailed construction for manufacturing and purchasing. The team’s specialist areas include mechanics, electronics and hydraulics. As specialist for mechanics, you are the technical lead in projects from signed contract through to installation. You have an overall responsibility for the mechanical construction of our customer orders, including design and adaptation according to our customers specific needs where almost every project is unique. In this position you will work in close collaboration with our customers and suppliers as well as internal functions, such as project management, purchasing and service engineers.

Qualifications and experience

To succeed in this position, you should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field in addition to industry work experience. In our global organization and market, a high level of English, both written and oral is essential. Ideally you have experience in NX 3D CAD if not, we will train you on the job.

We appreciate your ability to act on your own initiative, make things happen and accept responsibility for the results. In taking on the technical lead for mechanical construction within projects, it is critical to use a systematic approach in planning your work and defining clear priorities. Teamwork is key to succeed in this position, therefore, we value your ability to build a useful network of contacts and relationships, co-operate well with others, share knowledge and experience as well as supporting others in the pursuit of team goals.
